This 8-string guitar was made in 1972. The top is sitca spruce, the back east indian rosewood, the neck honduran mahagony and the fingerboard of ebony. The neck is laminated with a full-thickness center strip of ebony.
This guitar was stored for many years and developed a crack in the top which has been repaired. It has recently been lightly refinished and has a wonderful tone.
As a side note: I initially had trouble sourcing a 1st string that could be tuned to G. Strings recommended by manufacturers would not reach pitch and snap. I found that that an excellent 1st string can be obtained from Wal Mart in their fishing equipment department. Just choose their largest monofilament. It works great!....and you get a lifetime supply for a few dollars : )
